Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Account information: your email address and authentication credentials (passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text).

Name (optional): a first and last name, if you choose to add one to your account.

Profile information you provide: date of birth or age, sex, height, weight, activity level, and your nutrition goals.

Food data: foods you log, custom foods and recipes you create, and saved meals.

Meal photos: photos you choose to submit for AI analysis.

Coaching: if you choose to connect with a coach, the categories of your data you decide to share with them, and the messages and images you exchange. Nothing is shared with a coach until you turn it on.

Feedback: the text of any bug report or suggestion you send us, an optional screenshot you attach, and your app version, platform and device model.

App and device data: sync identifiers, device type, app version, diagnostic logs, and — when the app fails — a crash report containing the technical location of the failure with your device model, operating-system version and app version.

Subscription status: we receive your entitlement status from Apple or Google. We never receive or store your payment card details.

2. MacTrak waitlist

Before launch, our website lets you join a waitlist. If you choose to sign up, we collect your email address and process it through our email provider, Kit (ConvertKit), for the sole purpose of notifying you about MacTrak's launch and related updates.

We do not sell this information or use it for third-party advertising. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us at privacy@mactrak.io, and we will remove your address from the list.

3. Health-related information and your consent

Some of the information above — such as your weight, goals, and food logs — can reveal information about your health. We treat it with heightened care. We ask for your explicit consent during onboarding before collecting it, we use it only to provide MacTrak's features, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account in the app.

4. How we use information

We use your information to: provide and operate MacTrak's features, including calculating your calorie and macronutrient targets; sync your data across your devices; analyze meal photos you submit; respond to support requests; maintain the security and integrity of the service; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

5. AI photo analysis

When you submit a meal photo, it is transmitted securely to our AI service provider, Anthropic, solely to identify foods and estimate nutrition information. MacTrak never stores your meal photos. The image is sent for analysis and the result is returned to your device; no copy is written to our servers, to your account, or to your synced history.

Your photos are not used to train AI models. Our AI provider does not retain submitted content by default, and where content is retained it is deleted within 30 days. The one exception is outside our control: content that the provider's automated safety systems flag for review may be kept longer so it can enforce its own usage policies.

The app notifies you before your first use of this feature.

6. Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to operate MacTrak. Each of the following processes data on our behalf, under our instructions, and is bound by a data-processing agreement:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and storage, hosted in the United States
• Anthropic — AI photo analysis
• RevenueCat — subscription management; receives your account identifier and your purchase events from the app stores
• Kit (ConvertKit) — waitlist sign-ups and email delivery
• Resend — transactional email; receives your email address in order to deliver sign-in and password-reset codes
• Sentry — crash reporting; receives crash reports and device details together with an account identifier, and never your food, weight or other health information
• GitHub — where we track the feedback you send us; receives the text of your report and its app and device details, and never your email address

Apple and Google are not our service providers. They distribute the app and act as the merchant of record for purchases, handling your payment under their own privacy policies rather than on our instructions. We never receive or store your payment details.

7. Storage, security, and retention

Your data is encrypted in transit, and we use industry-standard safeguards to protect it. We retain your personal information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your rights and choices

You can access and correct your information in the app, export your data using the built-in data export, and delete your account (and its data) in the app at any time. You may also contact us at privacy@mactrak.io to exercise any of these rights; we respond within 30 days. Step-by-step instructions, including how to request deletion if you no longer have the app, are on our account deletion page.

United States: depending on your state, you may have rights to know, correct, or delete personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We honor these rights for all MacTrak users regardless of state.

Canada: you have rights of access and correction under PIPEDA, and you may direct complaints to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Children

MacTrak is not directed to minors, requires users to be at least 18 to create an account, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.

10. Where your data is processed

Your data is stored and processed in the United States. If you use MacTrak from Canada, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
